The industry in Egypt dates back about 7,000 years. It flourished at the beginning of the era of Muhammad Ali Pasha 200 years ago, after the latter contributed to the improvement of cotton, palm, olive and precious metals.
Today, what commodities are the pride of Egyptian industry?
Fabric
Textiles from carpets and carpets of all kinds, from the era of the pharaohs through ownership, until the era of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, who rehabilitated and opened new textile factories, relying on the flourishing cotton cultivation at the time.

Fancy

Leather
The leather industry is still popular in Egypt and exported to many countries around the world. The most important leather manufacturing areas are located in the ancient areas of Egypt, next to the Al-Marayoun Wall.

Household furniture
Of the oldest local industries, most furniture factories are located in Damietta Governorate. These factories produce millions of pieces of furniture annually, and exported to different countries of the world for their excellence in decoration and industry accuracy.

Copper
Copper tools are manufactured in Al-Jamaliya and Al-Nahasin Street. Copper, now a mantle of antiquity, was found in household appliances in every Egyptian household such as pots, plugs, and tasht.

Pottery
The villages and cities of Upper Egypt are characterized by the pottery industry that is used in pots in the houses so far. Pottery products are exported abroad.

Cement
Egypt produces about 35 million tons of cement each year for construction purposes, which exports about 6 million tons. Egypt was the first to establish this industry by establishing the first factory on its territory in 1911 in Helwan. Egyptian cement is exported to Arab, European, South American and United States countries.

Iron and steel
Egyptians began to collect remnants of World War II weapons from iron scrap to re-produce iron in the 1940s. This was the beginning of the idea of establishing an iron and steel company. The first national factory was established in the era of Abdel Nasser in 1955, and the iron industry became one of the most popular industries exported abroad.

Chemicals and fertilizers
Egypt started manufacturing chemical fertilizers in 1936 in Kafr El Zayat, Tanta. This popular industry is based on phosphate and potassium ores. Egypt exports large quantities of chemicals and fertilizers to Arab, European and Asian countries.
